Karate-do: My Way of Life |
|
Description:
Ginchin Funakoshi has been credited with modernizing karate. He is also the first to open a dojo (karate school) in Tokyo. Whether he is actually the father of modern Karate or not is not relevant because he is truly a recognized Grand-Master. This is his story of both his life, karate, and the philosophies the martial artist follows. He also explodes some of the more famous myths that seem to surround karate and other martial arts such as ripping a man's heart out with your bare hands.

"Even Alone In A Cave A Flower Blooms Beautifully"
Takahashi Deishu (1835-1903)
|
|
A poor farmer was returning home from his fields when he found a
wild horse. He managed to get a rope around its neck and lead it home.
"Aren't you lucky", said the neighbors.
"Maybe", replied the farmer.
His son tried to ride the horse but he fell off and broke his leg.
"How unlucky!", cried the neighbors.
"Maybe", replied the farmer.
Soldiers
came and took away all the young men to serve in the army. Of course,
they didn't take the farmer's son because he had a broken leg.
"Aren't you lucky?", said the neighbors again.
"Maybe", said the farmer.
Life
is what it is and to want our situation to be different is to fall into
the trap of duality. Accept your situation and be happy not wanting it
to be better or worse than it is.

The Techniques of the Way of Peace change constantly; every
encounter is unique, and the appropriate response should emerge
naturally. Today's techniques will be different tomorrow. Do not get
caught up with the form and appearance of a challenge. The Art of Peace
has no form -- it is the study of the spirit.

The International Budo Institute is happy to announce new features
to this site. As of today registered members can upload a personal
photo and expand their personal information to share with other
registered members.
Also, registered members can create a "buddy list" and exchange messages through email. Also, each registered member is able to create their very own blog
which all their buddies can view and keep up to date. Perfect for
letting everyone know what you are doing or for sharing your opinions
on the martial arts and life. When you register and log on you will see
a new user menu as shown above which you can navigate and learn the new
functionality.
As our mission statement said we wish that The International
Budo Institute becomes a community of sharing. It is hoped that these
applets help to make that more of a reality. Of course you must
register in order to view other members. Registration is free and only
takes a moment.

The Art of Peace begins with you. Work on yourself and your
appointed task in the Art of Peace. Everyone has a spirit that can be
refined, a body that can be trained in some manner, a suitable path to
follow. You are here for no other purpose than to realize your inner
divinity and manifest your inner enlightenment. Foster peace in your
own life and then apply the Art to all that you encounter.
