It is an obscure martial arts text
written in Chinese. But, it was a most cherished possession of many of
the great founders of modern karate -- something that was meticulously
hand copied and shared among only their most trusted students. The age
of the Bubishi and the origin are unknown. Yet, while the text remains
a mystery, it is also the only historical written record of martial
techniques and theory to have emerged from karate's past. “The
Bubishi” is the name of a text used by ancient Budo masters which
contains an assembly of techniques, kata (forms), strategies, vital
points, popular medicine and ethic/moral code for martial artists. This
compilation is credited with shaping the theory and practice of

The cook monk Dairyo, at Bankei's monastery, decided that he would take good care of his old teacher's health and give him only fresh miso, a paste of soy beans mixed with wheat and yeast that often ferments. Bankei, noticing that he was being served better miso than his pupils, asked: "Who is the cook today?"

Membership and ranking within The International Budo Institute is independent
of all other schools and styles. As a learning institute the internal ranking of
Instructors and students is independent and follows the guidlines solely of The
Institute. In this respect, students wishing to pass exams for Dan equivalence
may do so within the structure of The Institute regardless of their dan ranking
or status elsewhere. |
