10-Sept-05
On Saturday, September 10th, 2005 Shihan Henderson, Shihan York and Sensei Jatin Patel visited the Tam Bao Son Monastery in Harrington, Quebec. This is a Vietnamese Buddhist Temple. While there the three Sensei visited the main Temple and reviewed the life of The Buddha painted on the walls. Afterwards, a visit to the grounds and the many beautiful Buddhist sculptures was in order.
The monastery sits on 337 acres of land and was constructed starting in 1988. There are four Holy places recreated which are: the Lumbini garden where the Buddha was born, The Boddhigaya where Buddha achieved enlightenment, Deer Park where Buddha started to teach His five disciples about the four Noble Truths and, The Kusinara where Buddha achieved Parinirvana. It was a wonderful day trip and is recommended to all. Below you may find some pictures of the trip.
