Shihan Donald Oxford York, Kengo, holds a 5th degree Black Belt in
Bubishido and is Chief Technical Director for North America and
co-founder of the International Budo Institute. He has
also studied Muay Thai and Kung-Fu. He is also waiting examination for
Shodan, first degree black belt in Iaido (the art of the Japanese
sword). Shihan York presently teaches at the Bubishido Hombu Dojo in
Montreal, Quebec.
Shihan
York has taught hundreds of students and is known for his ability to
direct and develop his student's ambition and foster positive mindsets.
Shihan York began his martial arts career in 1987 under Master Kim, in
Su Lim Hung Gar Kung Fu. In 1995, he began studying Shorinjiryu
Karatedo.
In 2005,
Shihan York was awarded a 5th degree Black Belt, Go-Dan, in Bubishido
along with the Renshi teaching degree from Shihan Henderson.
Academically,
Shihan York holds an undergraduate degree in psychology (B.Psych.) from
McGill University where he also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Leadership. Shihan York also holds a degree in respiratory and anesthesia technology. Shihan York is an active member in the health field as well as a senior instructor for the Quebec heart and stroke foundation.
