It is with great pleasure that the officers of The International Budo Institue award Sensei Jeff Turk of the Totonto Dojo the distinction of "Budoka Of The Year".

This distinction is confered each year upon a member of  The Institute for demonstrating the characteristics that exemplify a true Budo student. As memtioned earlier on this site, Sensei Turk ran a marathon in Chicago in memory of a close personal friend who passed away from Leukemia. Sensei Turk was able to raise over $13,000 to help in Leukemia research.

This is a prime example of how the Budo spirit can manifest itself to provide benefits for the whole community and show that we all can grow through sharing and personal self-sacrifice, even when faced with difficult personal circumstances.
