Front stance.
 Front Stance - Zenkutsu Dachi
This stance is considered an offensive stance as 80% of the weight is on the front leg and 20% on the back leg. This stance is usually assumed using a middle guard, either open or closed fist, as shown by Sensei Kukura. Below Shihan Henderson is demonstrating the Front stance from the front and side views.
It is important to make sure that the knee of the lead leg does not pass beyond the toes of the foot of the lead leg. If so, the stance will be unstable and the knee will be under too much tension.
Common errors include: 1. too narrow a stance, 2. hand position not centered, 3. back hand not placed correctly, 4. knee of the lead leg too far forward, and 5. the stance is held too high.
