It is with great pleasure that the International Budo Institute announces the awarding of the title of Renshi - Master Instructor on Sensei Robert Peters. The presentation was completed on January 10th, 2007.
The title was confered upon Sensei Peters for his 35+ years of activity in the martial arts and for his unwaivering support of The International Budo Institute.
It is examples of life long commitment to Budo such as Renshi Peters that demonstrate to the younger students that martial arts is something for your entire life and not just your younger years. As an example of this Renshi Peters has visited in the past Shihan Henderson's class at McGill University on several occassions to teach basic Judo to the predominately Karate students. Within no time Renshi Peters would be throwing around the 19 to 24 year old students demonstrating: O-Goshi, Ippon Seio Nage, Ko Soto Gari and O Ouchi Gari and others. Later when the students would be asked for Sensei Peter's age responses of 55 or 60 would be given. Needless to say, Sensei Peters at the time was 74 and was tossing around 20 year olds. At learning this the students realized the lesson that Budo was indeed for the entirity of your life and they also stopped complaining of their hurts and pains realizing that Sensei Peters had shown them up.
So please join me in congratulating Renshi Peters and we hope that he will be practicing his throws for many years to come.
